VCU Students Visit Fauquier Hospital to Learn about Planetree

Last Friday, Planetree coordinator Susie Smith organized a visit from 22 Virginia Commonwealth University students to Fauquier Hospital to learn about the Planetree philosophy.
The hospital administration students began their day speaking with Vernon Rhea about the importance of delicious and healthy food to the healing process.
They also had a tour of the Family Birthing Center, led by director Beth Ann Thomas. The students seemed impressed with the beautiful patient rooms and the great care Fauquier Hospital staff takes to make moms feel comfortable and cared for.
Deb Larsen, clinical coordinator in the Emergency Department, led students on a tour of the hospital’s ED, showing them the spacious waiting room, triage area, EMS transport/ communication room and wellequipped patient rooms.
Carla Adams spoke with the VCU students about the VIPeds program before the Senior Management Team hosted the group for lunch.
