Ari Salis, MD Interventional Radiology
In the sub-specialty field of interventional radiology, Dr. Salis arrived at Fauquier Health with an impressive set of credentials. Having served as both the chief of radiology and the chief of interventional radiology for a large health system in Baltimore, Dr. Salis has gained a wealth of knowledge about minimally-invasive imaging techniques. Board certified in radiology and vascular interventional radiology, Dr. Salis realizes there is much more to the field than high-tech imaging studies. For him, each patient is a human being to be cared for, rather than a medical procedure to be performed.
Education and Training Dr. Salis earned a combined Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Medicine degree from Rutgers College and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1995. Following, Dr. Salis completed the University of Maryland Medical System/R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center Diagnostic Radiology Internship and Residency Program, and the Indiana University School of Medicine Interventional Radiology Fellowship Program.
Honors and Awards Among his many academic awards, Dr. Salis graduated with High Honors from Rutgers and entered his second year at the UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School with advanced standing. Dr. Salis is currently a member of the Society of Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology, and was elected to the Board of American Radiology Associates.
Research Dr. Salis has conducted research studies on a wide variety of interventional radiology topics. His findings were published in the Journal of Trauma and the Journal of Thoracic Imaging. He has also provided articles, abstracts and exhibits for meetings of the Academy of Radiology Research, Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, and a variety of medical conferences.
Employment Dr. Salis joined Fauquier Health as a private practice physician with Virginia Radiology Associates in 2006. Prior to that, Dr. Salis was the chief of radiology at Sinai Hospital and the director of radiology services for LifeBridge Health. He was also an instructor for the Indiana School of Medicine’s interventional radiology section.
