Sangeeta Srivastava, MD Radiology
Even though radiologists typically work behind the scenes, that does not mean they’re not directly involved with patient care. In fact, many health experts consider the radiology field to be the nexus of modern medicine. Thanks to rapidly advancing technology, radiologists are finding more and more nonsurgical ways to provide insight into what is going on inside a patient’s body. Board certified in radiology, Dr. Srivastava specializes in body MRI, which includes chest, breast, abdominal, pelvic, musculoskeletal, neurological, prostate and cardiovascular imaging. She also specializes in working congruously with the other Fauquier Health physicians and staff to provide each patient with a speedy and thorough diagnosis.
Education and Training After earning her Doctor of Medicine degree from India’s University of Rajasthan in 1988, Dr. Srivastava completed a rotating internship program at Rajasthan. Following, she completed a transitional internship program and a diagnostic radiology residency program at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Srivastava then completed a fellowship program in body MRI at the University of Wisconsin.
Certifications and Proficiencies Dr. Srivastava is certified in basic life support and advanced cardiac life support.
Honors and Awards Among her many academic honors, Dr. Srivastava ranked above the 99th percentile on her state medical school entrance exam. She is also a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society and the Radiological Society of North America.
Research Dr. Srivastava has conducted research on: the rapid magnetic resonance evaluation of the lower extremity veins; the use of different projection reconstruction techniques in magnetic resonance angiogram evaluation of peripheral vascular disease; the protocol for uterine anomalies; cardiac magnetic resonance research protocol using the cardiac coil; catheters; and choroid plexus cyst of the third ventricle.
Employment Prior to joining Fauquier Health as a private practice physician with Virginia Radiology Associates in 2006, Dr. Srivastava worked as an attending physician for the State Health Services Department in India, where she organized national programs for immunizations, malaria, tuberculosis and health care for women and children.
Personal Interests Dr. Srivastava is active in sports, creative writing and the arts.
